Recently I was contacted by a local runner that is originally from the Boston area. She’s currently putting together what looks like it will be a great run to raise money for the Boston Bombing victim fund. The best part is even if you aren’t able to run you can come to the finish at New English Brewery where all proceeds during the after-party will go to the family of Martin Richard, the young boy who was killed in the bombing.
Here’s more information from Erin, the organizer:

To support our sisters, brothers, mothers, fathers, children, grandparents, and on and on. The Boston Marathon bombings may not be making it to your attention everyday, but for the 260+ victims and their friends and families, the nightmare is all but forgotten. Life continues on – for some without loved ones, for others without a leg or legs or without an arm or arms and with scars that will last forever.
Honor these victims who are picking up the pieces…Who are living their lives, albeit in a changed way. Many of these people will not be able to afford the care they will need for years to come. Every dollar really does help them.
Help me do something that hasn’t been done yet – a charity event where NONE of the volunteers collect money. You choose who you will donate to, and a result you can run an awesome trail and/OR just come drink some awesome beer!
Run (requires a $50 donation to any Boston bombing victim fund; see this list:
- 6 or 8mile
- 3 person relay team for 26 miles
- Individual 26 mile
After party (for runners and non-runners) at New English Brewing Company:
12-2pm ALL money spent on beer, that’s 100% of the take, will be donated to the family of Martin Richard, the little boy who was killed in the explosion. From 2-6pm we will donate 20% of all bar takings as well.
We want to get at least 50 runners and raise $5,000.00 as a total team effort to the victims. HELP ME BY SPREADING THE WORD! YOU WILL MAKE A DIFFERENCE!

I am from Boston – I lived in Watertown for several years before I moved to San Diego. My friends are still there -this has affected me greatly- your support is appreciated!
